I'm Josie, a designer, researcher and strategist.
I curate, craft, and most importantly design digital spaces, experiences and products. I believe in an end to end design process and am hyper focused on design decisions based on humans and the way they think. I am constantly learning and intrigued by the world around me and the people that fill it.
I'm equal parts creative and logic, a thinker and a doer, a realist and a hopeless optimistic. That's why I fell in love with UX, because there is not template or boxes to check, there is only a million ways of finding a solution.
My Values
Always be learning.
If you don't know, always ask. It's better to shout a million questions that it is to stay silent. Designers are humans, not carbon cut outs. Everyday can be filled with newness, you just have to welcome it. Always wonder and wander.
Passion is the only way.
The best kind of work to do is the kind that leaves you heart full, the kind that makes you excited to climb higher, the kind that gives you the courage to move forward. If you don't love something, leave it. If you do, never stop chasing it.
Embrace the journey.
It is so much more important to know where you have been that to know exactly where you are headed. Everyone comes from somewhere and that means something. Learn to be proud of that. Learn to embrace who you were, what you have done, and what will happen next.
Lean. In.
We don't know what happens next, but isn't that the most exciting part? Change can be scary, but goodness, it's beautiful.
My Creative Side Quests
On Canvas
When I'm not creating and building digitally, you'll find me teasing out beauty on canvas.

I focus mainly on large, abstract works, often using more than one canvas to do all my creations. I focus on colors and texture more than objects.

My inspiration comes from human emotions, the happy, the bad, and in the in between, trying to imagine a mood and than transferring that into pours of paint.
I find that painting helps me reimagine the world, and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

In Ink
While I focus on a mostly visual medium now, I started my creative journey with writing. I studied creative writing for over six years, and focused in on creative non fiction and poetry, blending the lines between standard prose and lyricasim.
Some of my poetry has been featured and published in small publications and collections, and I also write for Medium.
